Luxury Index: 5 Star, you will LOVE the service! Romance Factor: Lots of opportunity for romance here! Beach and pool: Beautiful beach to tan on, lots of coral, so swim with flippers only, otherwise you will cut your feet. Stunning pool close to the beach AND a wonderful spa pool to swim laps in. While on the beach, you need only raise your flag to have a waiter attending to your drinks need. Honey and ginger drinks are free, while you will be charged for other drinks. I could drink the honey and ginger drinks all day, they were so delicious! Wifi: FREE internet in all rooms and there is a lovely intimate library with a MAC pc for all visitors to use. Peacefulness: Very peaceful and calm atmosphere Activities: Lots of free activities like yoga and running groups etc. There was simply not enough time to do it all. You do not need to ever leave this resort once while visiting Mauritius, there is enough to keep you busy. You can also borrow books from the library. Water skiing: Not at resort itself Spa: Absolutely amazing. This is a destination SPA resort. Food: Beyond wonderful Celeb Magnet: Not sure of this one Kids: are catered for, but this is a resort for adults. There were not many children around when we visited. I would LOVE to visit Shanti Maurice again. VIBE: Deluxe vibe for the well heeled and travellers expecting 5 star service. This resort will delight you. We easily recommend Shanti Maurice as a great destination. While there, we chatted to other guests who were loving the experience. A good place to go when you need to destress. No one will get in your space. We also had fabulous tennis lessons there from a superb coach. These lessons were free. Everyone at Shanti Maurice goes out of their way to make you feel like a VIP!
Nestled between sugarcane fields and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean is Shanti Maurice. Formerly known as Shanti Ananda, this hotel now dropped its focus on Buddhist and purist wellness.
The concept of the Shanti Maurice A Nira Resort is unlike any other traditional beach location. Its stunning mountain views, crystal clear turquoise waters, gracefully wooded hills and the clear air which comes directly from the South Pole and can even be crisp on a winter morning are all part of holistic Ayurveda therapy: the great healers- nature, rest, beauty and stillness- work in symbiosis and create a thorough wellbeing of body, mind and soul.
The suites and villas at Shanti Maurice are all ocean-facing and generously proportioned. The villas all have private pools and are surrounded by exotic private gardens, terraces and courtyards.
Covering 81 sq. meters, the 44 Junior Suites are among generously proportioned. Designed to blend modernity with practicality, they’re housed in attractive villa buildings with four suites per villa. Like all guest accommodation at Shanti Maurice, the suites are equipped with plasma TVs, DVD players and broadband Internet access.
The ground floor suites have direct access to the beach, as well as an outdoor rain shower, while the suites on the first floor have large balconies overlooking the Indian Ocean. As well as large bedrooms and bathrooms, each Junior Suite has a separate dressing room with an open closet and dressing table.
The Luxury Villa has dense private gardens shielding your villa from the beach and surrounding paths.
Covering 208 sq. meters, the eight Luxury Villas have a temperature-controlled swimming pool, a garden and an enclosed courtyard with an outdoor rain shower and lounge beds. ‘Sala’ pavilions, for dining or relaxation, stand in the garden, while the interior accommodation includes a large bedroom, bathroom and a separate dressing room with a walk-in closet and dressing table.
Luxury Suite Villa:
The Luxury Suite Villa is basically the same as the Luxury Villa, but for the added Living room. The large living room adds an elegant extra dimension to the Luxury Suite Villas, bringing the total space up to 376 sq. meters.
2 Bedroom Suite Villa:
With two bedrooms, two bathrooms with separate dressing rooms and a large living room, these villas are ideal for a family or friends. The vast interior and exterior space gives family members or friends the freedom to spend time together or apart. Meals can be taken in the large dining area or al fresco in one of the ‘Sala’ garden pavilions.
The three villas have a 54 sq. m. temperature-controlled swimming pool with built-in Jacuzzi, a private garden and an enclosed courtyard with lounge beds. The outdoor rain shower offers the opportunity to shower beneath the sky and the palms in blissful seclusion.
The Shanti Villa offers unrivalled space and lots of privacy. Covering a massive 800 sq. meters, this villa is one of the most prestigious guest accommodations on the island of Mauritius. Half-hidden amidst lush landscaped gardens, the villa has a private swimming pool with built-in Jacuzzi, ‘Sala’ dining pavilions and an outdoor rain shower in an enclosed courtyard. Stars serves fine Cape food, with culinary influences from South African, but ingredients that are primarily local. Likewise the winelist, reflects the tastes of the Cape, along with the best that the Old World has to offer.
Pebbles is an all-day dining restaurant. From delicately spiced curries that embrace time-honoured Indian and Creole traditions, to fresh local salads, the chefs at Pebbles create a fusion of authentic recipes and contemporary gastronomical delight. The restaurant also offers a wellness cuisine menu for guests that are looking for healthier and lighter options.
The Fish and Rhum Shack at Shanti Maurice is a rustic beach-side barbecue, elevated by lantern-light and the sound of waves breaking on the reef, is an unforgettable feast under the stars. The freshest fish, meat and game is grilled on request and served with a selection of salads and herbs picked from the garden. The menu, depending on the previous night’s catch and the morning market, might include grilled prawns, lobster, sea bass, tuna, snappers, chicken and lamb chops. Cocktails feature rum from the local distillery, while the beer selection introduces the finest offerings from the village brewery. Sega dancers regularly wow guests with the captivating beats and rhythms of the national song and dance.

From dolphin watching to kayaking, the activities arranged by the team at the boathouse include most aquatic pursuits. The fully qualified staff arrange regular group sailing and windsurfing initiation classes, along with snorkeling sessions and kayaking. Other available activities include deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, waterskiing and windsurfing.
